I am absolutely thrilled to teach English Language Arts here at Monforton Middle School! I grew up in the Chicagoland area and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from North Central College in Naperville, Illinois, with an emphasis in reading, language arts, and Spanish. I began teaching in 2000 and have worked with middle school students for the majority of my career. In 2014, my family moved to Bozeman, and we are proud to call this beautiful place home.
As an educator, I believe students deserve to know they are worthy, capable human beings. When students are in an atmosphere of respect and belonging, they can take the risks necessary for academic and personal growth. Furthermore, I strive to empower students by giving them choices in how they demonstrate their understanding, teaching them how to assess their work, and by reflecting on their own learning experiences. Learning is a mindset as much as an action, and we will work together to achieve and celebrate it.
