LITERATURE EXPLORE

Each month, fifth-grade students will be required to read and complete a book at their reading level in a specific genre. It is important for students to explore different types of literature and make time for 30 minutes of reading each night. Students will choose any book of their choice, as long as it’s at their reading level, for each month of our school year.  Once they have read the book they will choose 1 out of 4 projects to complete on the book they read. Each student is required to complete 1 of the 4 projects. The project will be due on the last school day of each month. Along with the project, each student will turn in a plot map, timeline, or graphic organizer they completed for their novel. Each student should plan to be done with his or her book before the last week of the month. This will allow them enough time to complete their project on time. The project should reflect a month’s worth of work. Students must bring their Literature Explore book to school each day.
