Mrs. Drake
I grew up in a small town outside of Seattle, Washington, and moved to Bozeman to complete my undergrad at Montana State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Theatre. I also hold a Master of Arts in Elementary Education from Western Governors University. Prior to teaching, I dedicated many years to coaching a youth synchronized swimming team, the Bozeman Stingrays. For the last decade, I’ve had the privilege of mentoring high school foreign exchange students in the Bozeman area.
Other passions of mine beyond education include filmmaking, snowboarding, camping, international travel, and spending time with my family. I attend the Sundance Film Festival annually and make short films in my spare time.
I am thrilled to be part of the magnificent Monforton 5th grade team. I intend to incorporate filmmaking and theater into our 5th-grade curriculum. I’m also an avid believer in the work-hard, play-hard mentality and will encourage your student to find a balance between school, family, activities, and friends. is an honor to serve as your child’s teacher for the school year. I look forward to making this year memorable and exciting.
3P’S ASSESSMENT
In 5th Grade, student work is assessed in a different way. ‘Grades’ for each unit in each subject are divided into 3 parts: Progress, Process, and Performance. We call it ‘3P’s Assessment’.
3P’s Assessment forms will be sent home attached to all the worked turned in at the end of each unit. If at anytime you would like to see your student’s current grades, please log into Infinite Campus or contact me.
CLASSROOM ECONOMY
In 5th grade, your child will be participating in our Classroom Economy Project. This project will teach that hard work brings success, financial goal setting, how to keep an income and expense ledger, managing cash and writing checks, paying bills, controlling spending impulses, the value of property ownership, and how to save for bigger and better things. This is a program about financial choices and consequences.
At the beginning of the school year your child will be applying for a classroom job, including getting a letter of recommendation, that will give them a monthly paycheck. Each month they will have rent to pay for their seat, and a few other expenses in the form of supplies and fines. They will even get to pay taxes on both income and property.
