Hi, my name is Sunny Jaye. This is my 7th year teaching at Monforton and my 24th year to the teaching profession. I grew up in West Yellowstone, Montana skiing, playing sports, hunting and fishing. I received my degree in Child Development from CSU Sacramento and lived in Northern California for 22 years. There I taught diverse 1st and 2nd graders often in dysfunction and poverty which was deeply rewarding.
First grade is SUCH an exciting year to be involved in children’s development. It is so rewarding to see their confidence grow as readers, writers and mathematicians. I love to see my students discover their strengths and how they contribute to our classroom. I believe in a safe climate where all feel accepted, listened to and honored. During the school day, they have numerous opportunities to listen to each other and learn from each other. I hope my classroom is always a happy place and laughter is welcome!
I teach kids, and you can’t teach kids if you don’t know kids.
