Greetings! I am excited to begin my fourth year at Monforton Middle School and my tenth year of teaching sixth-grade. I was raised in Circle, MT, attended Montana State University-Northern for my degree in K-8 Elementary Education and K-12 Reading, and received my Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from MSU-Bozeman. Most recently, I became a National Board Certified Teacher in Literacy.
Outside of school, you’ll find me spending time with my family as well as skiing at Big Sky, hiking area trails, kayaking on one of the many local rivers or lakes, or reading a middle grades fiction novel.
As an educator, I strive to meet the needs of all students by providing them with engaging learning activities, giving them choices in how they show their learning, promoting independent reading habits, and helping them learn how to collaborate with their peers. Some of my favorite days in the classroom include listening to a student share about a free read book or a part of their weekend, watching students enjoy a learning activity, listening to students engage in meaningful peer-led discussions, laughing at something funny with a class, and observing a student have a “light bulb” moment.
